Connecting the wires, Cable compounds and more

In December 2022, Eifelkabel GmbH from Switzerland visited us, here accompanied by the Managing Director Detlef Wald, to conduct further research on cable compounds. He, was accompanied by Dr. Thomas Birr, the Head of process engineering of ENTEX Rust & Mitschke GmbH. The tests at ENTEX were primarily concerned with investigating the conductivity of the compound produced as a function of the carbon black filling level and energy input.

The study shows that the conductivity target values can already be achieved at a lower filling degree than usual. This effect is due to the mixing performance of the planetary roller extruder, which could be optimised to the requirements of the compound through the targeted balancing between mechanical and thermal energy input.
